Pricing Structure

Transparent, upfront pricing for expert virtual dermatology care.

At Sama Dermatology, pricing is simple. There are no hidden fees, no surprise bills, and no insurance guesswork. You know exactly what you are paying for — and exactly what you are getting.

Our prices reflect a deliberate choice about how care should feel: long enough to be thorough, focused enough to be personal, and priced to make expert dermatology accessible to the people we serve.

Visit Options

Our pricing does not change based on who you are. Whether you’re a new or established patient, adult or minor, first-time visit or follow-up: the same price. You are paying for Dr. Bowers’ time and expertise — and that is worth the same, whoever is in the visit.

Focused Visit – 30 Minutes

$200

For patients with one or two specific concerns — acne, rosacea, eczema, hair loss, or a few spots you would like evaluated. A targeted visit with ample time for a clear plan.

Extended Visit – 60 Minutes

$350

For patients with multiple concerns, complex conditions, or a longer history that benefits from deeper discussion. The most thorough way to capture everything in a single visit.

Pay With HSA or FSA

Sama Dermatology visits are eligible expenses under most Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). This means you can use your pre-tax HSA or FSA card to pay for your visit at checkout — effectively reducing the cost of your care by whatever your marginal tax rate would have been.

For many patients, HSA and FSA funds turn direct-pay dermatology into one of the more efficient ways to access specialty care. If you have questions about eligibility with your specific plan, we recommend reaching out to your HSA or FSA administrator.

Insurance & Reimbursement

Sama Dermatology is a direct-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly, and payment is collected at the time of your visit.

If you have out-of-network dermatology benefits, we are happy to provide a detailed receipt (superbill) after your visit that you can submit to your insurance carrier for potential reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, and we cannot guarantee what your insurance will reimburse — but many patients recover a portion of their visit cost this way.

What Is Included in Your Visit

  • Electronic prescriptions sent to your preferred Illinois pharmacy, when appropriate

What Is Not Included

  • The cost of medications, laboratory tests, or in-person procedures ordered as part of your care
  • Follow-up visits, which are scheduled separately at the same rates above

Dermatology Pricing FAQ

Sama Dermatology is a direct-pay practice and does not bill insurance. Prices are transparent, with no surprise bills or insurance-driven restrictions. This allows us to prioritize our patients, not paperwork, and have full autonomy over their care.

Credit or debit card information is required at time of booking your appointment, and a $50 deposit will be charged and applied towards your visit charge. The remainder of payment is collected at the time of service. If desired, patients may submit their receipt to their insurance carrier for potential out-of-network reimbursement. In this case, a superbill may be necessary and can be provided upon request.

We understand that direct-pay is a shift from the traditional insurance model. It is also the reason Sama can offer what it does — 30 and 60-minute visits with a board-certified dermatologist, no rushing, no hidden agenda, and no time spent fighting insurance companies on your behalf instead of caring for you.

Direct-pay is not for everyone. But for patients who value time, access, and expertise — and who want to know exactly what they are paying for their care — it can be one of the most transparent, honest ways to work with a specialist.
